Burger Mania Lipa City: Spreading their Mental Health Awareness Advocacy through their Burgers and More

It’s very rare for someone to spread an advocacy through a restaurant. On that note, it’s very rare for someone to spread an advocacy, as most people simply don’t have the passion and dedication to fight for an advocacy. Well, Lelaii Garcia is different.

Who’s Lelaii?

Lelaii is the 24 year old woman behind Burger Mania. Yes, she’s the brain behind the highly-successful Burger Mania Calamba and now, Lipa City.

She’s one of the most innovative restaurateurs I’ve ever met. She has taken something as basic as a burger and turned it into an experience you wouldn’t forget. It’s because each and every burger has a story to tell – a story that helps Lelaii spread the word about her advocacy.

You see, Lelaii has a borderline personality disorder, and she’s not embarrassed to admit that. She’s very vocal about her condition because this acceptance helps her fight the stigma on behalf of others with this condition.

Burger Mania has proven to be a good ambassador for Lelaii’s advocacy. With hundreds, sometimes even thousands of people visiting their two branches a day, Lelaii has captured the attention of people ready to hear what she has to say, and we’ve been listening.

As proof of this, a lot of people celebrated with Lelaii at the Burger Mania Lipa branch when the Mental Health Bill was passed. Yay!

About Burger Mania

Burger Mania traces its roots to Calamba City where Lelaii resides with her family. It’s also where she opened the first Burger Mania branch. Thanks to its insane amount of success, she was able to branch out to Dayton Food Park right here in Lipa City. They formally opened last April 8, 2017. Just like in their Calamba branch, it didn’t take long for them to achieve 500-patties-sold-out-in-a-day success.

The 4 PM crowd at Burger Mania Lipa just before the insane lines brought upon by the dinner crowd.

Yes, it’s very common for them to sell out their patties. Lipeños have fully embraced Burger Mania. You can expect a line on most days. In fact during peak hours, it’s not uncommon for the wait time to reach one hour and even more. So yes, patience is required. I’m here to tell you that the wait time is worth it.

On that note, it’s best to ask the wait staff how long the expected wait time is to set your expectations.

About their Food

In addition to burgers, they also serve other dishes. They’re very underrated because the burgers remain the star of the show. I recommend that you try them as well with your choice of burger.

We were served three types of wings. First up was Chipotle Adobo.

Chipotle Adobo wings (PHP 120)

This is their best-seller and I can see why. Your palate will taste something homey and familiar with every bite, and then it will be hit with surprising Mexican flavors.

We also tried Ssamjang Chicken.

Samjang Chicken wings (PHP 135)

K-pop fans will be familiar with the Ssamjang sauce. This sauce makes this dish sweet and sour with a little kick!

Last but not the least, we also tried Honey Garlic.

The ladies in our team loved it! The crunchy garlic bits complemented the pure honey sauce well. Do me a favor and eat this dish with your bare hands. You’d want to lick the sauce off of your fingers!

They also serve pasta dishes and we tried a couple. First we tried was the Carbonara Mania.

Carbonara Mania (PHP 140 with free unlimited drinks)

It’s one of the best carbonaras we’ve tried! The sauce is creamy and at the same time savory. It’s something that you have to try for yourself (and with a friend because it’s good for 2 to 3). Oh, and as you can see from the picture, it’s LOADED!

We also tried the Baked Macaroni.

Baked Macaroni (PHP 280 with 2 free unlimited drinks)

The sauce is more Italian than Filipino so it’s not too sweet. It’s hella meaty and cheesy, though! Menu said it’s good for 2 to 3 but I think it can satisfy 4 people.

We washed them all down with two refreshing drinks – pineapple juice and blue lemonade.

Now for the Star of the Show – their Burgers

Their other dishes are great and would make people fall in line. However, we’re here for the burgers. As the name implies, Burger Mania specializes in burgers. However, these are not your usual burgers. It’s like someone had a bit too much fun in the kitchen to come up with burgers you haven’t seen and tasted before.

I have to admit that I was a bit apprehensive before. Some of these burger shops serving “freaky” burgers focus more on being viral on social media rather than satisfying the palate. The burgers of Burger Mania have been blowing up social media, but make no mistake about it. These burgers are the B-O-M-B.

This BURGER PORN should convince you to at least try them out.

Do you want to know what makes them great? It can be summarized into two things. First, the patties are grilled over the fire. I entered the kitchen so I have smoke smell on my shirt to prove that. Oh, and I have a picture.

They’re also assembled in a clean and organized kitchen.

Assembly line at Burger Mania Lipa.

One of the best things I noticed is that they have an open kitchen. This encourages their kitchen staff to clean as they go, leading to a cleaner and more organized kitchen. This ensures that their burgers are assembled using the cleanest and freshest ingredients.

Team Burger Mania hard at work.

Moving on to the burgers. We tried the Beast Mode Burger. Why beast mode? Well…

This is a 7 inch burger. Yup, not a typo. As if that’s not enough, it’s filled and topped with meat sauce and finished off with a generous drizzle of cheese sauce. As if to taunt you, it also has lettuce, carrots, cabbage and Jalapenos for more volume.

To taunt you even more, it comes with a quarter pound of fries. You also get unlimited drinks for 2 people. It’s something that someone on death row would order for a last meal.

If you’re feeling beast mode yourself, Burger Mania Lipa City is challenging you to finish this burger within 5 minutes. Do so and this burger is for free!

Would you believe that there’s something better than the Beast Mode Burger? I’d like to introduce you to something that would bully your stomach capacity – the Big Bad Bully.

It’s a 7 inch burger with 2 half kilo patties. Do the math and you’re getting a kilo of beef patty. Burger Mania Lipa is not fooling around and they made this dish heavier with a thick slice of ham and cheese. But wait, there’s more. The top of the bun is drizzled with sauce which I’m assuming is there to secure the bits of more meat and shoestring potatoes on top of the bun.

Toppings of the Big Bad Bully Burger.

Oh, and yeah, it also comes with quarter pound of fries and unlimited drinks for 2 people. You can also take it on as a challenge. Finish it off within 5 minutes and Burger Mania Lipa will pay YOU double the price!

The last burger we tried made me search inside the kitchen to look for a mad scientist. Here comes the Game On Burger.

It’s a pizza and burger in one. To be more specific, it has 3 personal-sized pizza used as bun, 2 half kilo patties, cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. Yes, it sounds and looks weird, but it works! It confuses your taste buds in a good way. It makes you wonder what’s going on while smiling and digging in for more.

Yes, you guessed it, it also comes with quarter pound of fries and unlimited drinks for 2 people.

These massive burgers are good for 2 to 4 people. They do have smaller versions of these burgers that are good for 1. Prices start at PHP 95.

Here’s their menu.

Business with a Purpose

Burger Mania Lipa City is truly a business with a purpose. Putting up a burger shop to help fight for mental health awareness is an unconventional strategy, but it’s been working. People have been listening and joining the advocacy.

Yes, it helps that they serve damn good burgers and food.
