There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face. – Bernard Williams

Pet lovers are some of the happiest people you’ll ever meet. This is because they’re in constant contact with dogs, cats and other popular pets. While other animals have their own specific purpose on this planet, it’s quite obvious that dogs and cats have evolved to serve one purpose – fill in whatever void’s missing in our life.

Think about it. If you feel lonely, having a pet can turn things around. If you feel alone, well, there’s a reason why dogs are called as man’s best friend. If you’re constantly having bad days, a mischievous cat can be a source of good vibes at the end of a stressful day.

This is why most people recognize the importance of having a pet. In fact, some households have more than one. Unfortunately even with this realization, a lot of people can’t afford to have a pet. Owning a pet is a huge responsibility. It requires a lot of your time, effort and money. In addition, there are other constraints like space issues and house rules that prevent a homeowner from having a pet.

Thanks to Happy Tails Café, you can unleash the pet lover in you, whether you’re a pet owner or not.

Happy Tails Cafe is located at the back of the Big Ben Complex. This area is known as The Courtyard.

Happy Tails Café is a quaint café located at The Courtyard of Big Ben Complex in Lipa City with a unique and promising concept. Just like any café, it serves meals and snacks like pasta, sandwiches, juices and more. While their food and drinks are good, they’re not the reason why we were excited to check it out, and why we’re planning to let the whole province know about it.

It’s a pet café that allows you to play with their dogs and cats.

I repeat.

It’s a pet café that allows you to play with their dogs and cats.

For only PHP 120, you can play with the pets for as long as you can. You also get a free juice drink!

Meeting the Pets

We saw the pets from outside just as we were parking the car and believe me, we couldn’t get out of the car fast enough. We were very excited to meet them and play with them.

The first thing that you need to know about them is that they’re tamed so you don’t have to worry. They’re used to having people around so the barks that you’ll hear are barks of joy and excitement. Of course, they’re still animals, so you should still follow certain rules to ensure your safety and their safety as well. For starters, don’t play rough with the pets and don’t startle them with flash photography.

Happy Tails Café is perfect for your barkada. It’s because the pets there are part of their very own barkada, and it’s fun to meet each one of them and discover their personality!

In order for you to really have a good idea how it is hanging out with these pets, I’ll try to compare them with people in a barkada.

The first pet we met was the Shih Tzu named Phaning.

He’s the oldest in the group and it showed. He never left his position on the counter as he looked over the group to seemingly make sure that everything is in order. He’s the kuya/ate in a barkada.

The Pomeranian named Charlie then made his presence felt, running and jumping all over the place.

He’s the most bibo in the group. He’s the clown in your barkada – the one that makes everyone laugh.

There’s a Poodle named Missy.

Imagine her as the shy type in your barkada. She’s beautiful, but doesn’t want to admit it. She’d rather stay in the background and be adorably cute doing that.

We also “met” a Napoleon Cat, Snow.

Snow slept the whole time. I guess he’s that barely noticeable person in your barkada. Yung tipong, “Uy, andyan ka pala!”

We also met Monchi who’s a British Shorthair and Persian mix.

Monchi is grumpy, and every group has a grumpy one, right? But even so, we all loved Monchi, in the same manner that we still love our grumpy friend.

My favorite is a Bengal Cat named Lucky.

Look at how beautiful Lucky is. Lucky is the good-looking one in your group, and he’s not shy to flaunt his good looks.

We also played with a Husky and Alaskan Malamute mix named Saber.

Think of Saber as the troublemaker in your group. He will cause a lot of troubles, which of course will lead to epic experiences!

We spent a couple of hours playing with these pets and believe me, those couple of hours flew by. We felt relaxed after playing with them. Playing with pets will do that to you.

We experienced separation anxiety when we were about to leave. We didn’t want to leave! But yeah, we’ll be back! After all, they have other pets that we have yet to meet!

Trying the Food

While we could have spent all our time playing with the pets, with Happy Tails Café being a café, of course we also tried their food. We just had a heavy lunch before going there but playing with the pets made us hungry.

For starters, we tried the Hatchie Fresh Garden Salad.

We loved how fresh the ingredients are. They’re bright and crisp and the dressing will make you eat your veggies.

We also tried the nachos.

It’s the perfect pica-pica to eat while playing with the pets. The chips are BBQ-y and the toppings are generous and meaty.

We also had a couple of pasta dishes. This mushroom pasta was pretty good.

But this spicy tuna pasta was better!

We also tried a couple of their sandwiches.

The Twerky Burger is meaty goodness in a soft bun.

On the other hand, the Lucky Chicken Burger is juicy and crispy.

For dessert, we tried their Oreo Cheesecake.

Look at that cute paw print!

We were also refreshed with 4 different smoothies!
