It’s the same company that served Lipa City government employees from 1983 to February of this year when they operated a canteen at the back of the Lipa City Hall. They also served as company concessionaire for several companies from 2002 to 2016. This is because they’re known for two things ever since – quality food and affordable prices.
Even with their success at the concessionaire business, they’re more known for their catering business. Even when they changed their name to Margarita and now M Home Dining and Catering (after its founder, Mrs. Margarita De La Peña), people still trust them for their catering needs. This is because Mrs. De La Peña, or Tita Margie or Ninang Margie to many Lipeños, still heads its operations.

While her children are now playing huge roles in the business, one can still sense the presence of Mrs. De La Peña as she has instilled the values that her company has been known for. It also helps a lot that she’s still very hands-on with their business. Of course, her children has provided an influx of modern ideas that will help their business stay ahead of the game.

It’s not unusual for me to attend an event or party and find out that M Home Dining and Catering is the caterer. It’s not really a surprise. It’s more of an expectation. Opening the Doors to their Home
Now, you don’t have to wait for a party or event in order to enjoy their good food and great service. Mrs. De La Peña has opened her charming home to the public. Now, it’s a restaurant.
It’s not your usual restaurant, though. Think of it as a private catering event at their home. This is because you’ll feel as if you’re in one. You’re not just some customer eating at a restaurant. You’re a guest at their home, and you’ll be treated as such.

As you can see, it’s very homey. It’s like you’re eating at your home, only with a much-better ambiance and with way better food. If you’re looking to enjoy home-cooked meals that are professionally prepared and cooked at a hard-to-beat ambiance not experienced in most restaurants, this is the place to be.
Speaking of great food, let’s start with the Crispy Shrimp with Special Vinegar.
It’s so good that you can (should!) eat the whole thing – head to tail. Seriously, it’s so addictive. We as a team normally practice kahiyaan whenever we eat out so a piece or two normally stays on the plate for a long time, but that didn’t happen here. We ate every bit.

We also tried the Batangas Beef Caldereta.
This is a best-seller, and we experienced why. It’s tender with just the right amount of heat. Even the sauce itself is so good that you can just pour it over hot rice and it can be a meal in itself.
We were also served the Ox Tongue with Creamy Mushroom Sauce.
It’s so perfectly-prepared that you wouldn’t think that it’s ox tongue. The creamy mushroom sauce makes this a delectable dish.
We tried another best-seller, the Teriyaki Chicken, which is a Margarita Signature Dish.
This didn’t disappoint the huge teriyaki chicken fan in me.
Pork lovers will love the Fall Off the Bone Pork Baby Back Ribs.
There’s no false advertisement here. These pork baby back ribs really fall off the bone, which is good because it’s so tasty that you’d want to eat every bit from the bone.
Of course, a hearty meal won’t be complete without Crispy Pata.
I’m assuming that they’ve cooked thousands of these bad boys and it shows on how it’s perfectly cooked. Every inch of the skin is crispy. The meat itself is juicy.
The chicken fans in our group loved the Home Style Fried Chicken.
It complemented the saucy dishes of our meal.
A pleasant surprise was the Native Chicken Tinola.
It was among the last things I tried and believe me, I ate way past my stomach’s capacity because it was soooo good that I had to keep eating even if I was already full!
If you don’t feel like eating rice, get the Seafood Pasta.
As you can see, it comes generously topped with different types of seafood. I loved the freshness of this dish.
It would be a crime to finish this meal without a nice dessert. Fortunately, M Home Dining and Catering came to the rescue with their Buko Pandan.
Are the prices affordable? Yes, considering that each dish is good for sharing. Here’s the menu.
As you can see, they have a wide variety of dishes available at affordable prices. Each member of your group or family can choose his or her favorite, and everyone can enjoy one big meal.
In fact, one member of our team went back a couple of days after our visit with her family.
