Tucked in the corner of the Season’s Building along the busy Tambo highway is an unassuming coffee shop with a couple of tables and a simple “jamocha Specialty Coffee” sign outside. I’ve seen its exterior countless of times since I live in the area and I pass there at least twice a day, and has always assumed that it’s one of those cramped coffee shops serving the same dishes and drinks. Jamocha proved me wrong and I’m happy to be proven wrong.

About the Coffee Shop

Jamocha Specialty Coffee is owned by the Pangilinan family. Judging from the concept and the overall appeal of the coffee shop, the family wants to offer a different experience – one that includes serving good food and drinks in a friendly ambiance.

The Jamocha Specialty Coffee Team

The Jamocha Specialty Coffee shop found that perfect mix of space and coziness. It’s spacious (can sit up to 40 people) and at the same time relaxing. The air conditioner provides cool air and the ambiance provides the warmth.

I like how the tables and chairs are set up. There’s an al fresco setup for those who prefer the outdoor air while sipping their hot cup of coffee while watching cars and people pass by. Inside, there’s a bar type setup facing the wall that is perfect for those who want to focus on whatever they’re doing. There’s the usual couch setup where you can chill with friends while sipping on a non-alcoholic mojito. Of course, there’s a dining setup where you can sit down and comfortably enjoy the food.

About the Food and Drinks

Honestly, I had low expectations about the food. I mean, it’s a coffee shop. I was under the impression that they serve food just for the sake of being able to. So yeah, they serve rice meals, pasta dishes, sandwiches, etc. I was so sure that they’re just going to be “okay”.

This is why I was surprised when we tried their meals. First to arrive were the Chicken Maryland with Sambal Sauce and the Pork Maryland with Sambal Sauce.

Pork Maryland with Sambal Sauce

Looking at the chicken and pork, it was quite obvious that they’re heavily spiced. It was at this point when I realized that they’re not serving the usual meals. I knew that we’re in for a nice treat.

These dishes were served Nasi Lemak style with hard-boiled egg, fried anchovies and peanuts. Malaysian and Singaporean influences are strong in these dishes, making it a must-try if you’re looking to excite your palate with spices you don’t normally taste.

So.Many.Flavors.

As a bangus lover, I was happy that they have several bangus dishes. There’s the classic Fried Boneless Bangus with Garlic Rice which is something that I can eat every day.

I’m not kidding. I love fried boneless bangus!

We also tried the Crispy Bangus Belly with Sriracha Sauce.

The Sriracha dipping sauce took this up a notch.

We were also served the Bangus Belly with Mango Mint Sauce.

This is another one of their dishes that incorporate loads of spices and flavors to come up with a nice dish.

They also have a couple of pasta dishes. There’s the Creamy Chicken on Linguine.

My wife fell in love with this dish and has already made plans to order this next time.

A pleasant surprise was the Longga Salted Egg Pasta.

At first, I thought it was your usual Pinoy pasta with a couple of slices of salted egg on top taking advantage of the salted egg craze. I was wrong. I loved the fact that the salted egg is already incorporated into the pasta sauce, making it perfectly sweet and salty.

What if you’re not in the mood to eat something heavy? They have a light on the tummy but filling Apple Tuna Sandwich.

The tuna spread is generous with the tuna and is perfectly seasoned. Looking at the picture now, I’ll try adding the apple slices into the sandwich next time.

Beef lovers will love the Beef Grilled Cheeseteak.

Think of it as your favorite cheeseburger but with an Asian-inspired kick.

Our team also shared a few drinks.

Some of the Best-sellers at Jamocha Specialty Coffee

The one on the right is the Innocent Smooch. You’d be smooching your own lips as you smack your lips together with the sweetness of this yogurt-based drink. The one in the middle is the Ice Blended White Chocolate. It’s as sweet as what you’d expect white chocolate to be.

The one on the left is the Minty Eye Mojito.

This is a good drink if you’re looking for something refreshing. You don’t have to worry because it’s non-alcoholic!

My wife didn’t share the Ice Blended Dark Chocolate with me.

I’m guessing that she loved it seeing the empty glass once she’s done with it.

For dessert, we shared the Affogato and Matcha Affogato.

That perfect blend of bitterness and sweetness was achieved!

With our tummies just about ready to burst, their green tea saved the day!

They also have a supplier that supplies them with their own blends. This excites us to try their coffee next time!

Here’s their menu!
