Mary Mediatrix Medical Center: The Hub of Healthcare Experts in Lipa City
I remember the time when you had no choice but to go to Manila if you have a serious illness or condition. History of Mary Mediatrix Medical Center
Looking at the impressive façade of the Mary Mediatrix Medical Center (MMMC), it’s hard to imagine that it started as a humble clinic back in 1958 when it was founded by cardiologist Dr. Vicente L. Magsino.
Thanks to his productive stint in the US, it opened his eyes that Lipa City needed better healthcare. This realization and his passion paved the way for the opening of the Magsino General Hospital (MGH) in the 60s.
Through the years of providing great healthcare, MGH was able to grow because of the trust of its patients. Soon, even non-locals started choosing MGH. Top healthcare professionals of that time started joining MGH, including majority of Dr. Magsino’s children who became healthcare professionals as well.
It was on July 23, 1994 when MGH was renamed as the Mary Mediatrix Medical Center, after Our Lady of Lipa and its patron, Mary Mediatrix of All Graces. From 30 beds it grew to 100 beds, and started offering advanced diagnostic services.
It was in the early 2000s when MMMC started making a name for itself as a top healthcare institution. With more healthcare specialists joining its family and more services offered, it became a top choice for people in and around Lipa City.
MMMC Today
MMMC has grown to be a 208-bed level 4 tertiary hospital (as classified by the DOH) that not only offers services from several specialties, but also offers medical training programs.
With the ISO 9001:2008 certification that they received in 2013, customer satisfaction is at its highest because of its standards that can be considered international quality.
The institution continues to grow thanks to the efficient management of its team led by its President and CEO, Robert M. Magsino, M.D. In fact, it was just in 2014 when they added a new annex building to provide more rooms. This annex building also houses a bigger emergency room and its renowned Dialysis Center.
We can expect more growth as they aim to cement its place as one of the best, if not the best medical center in the Southern Tagalog Region.
