An artificial-grass football field is in construction at The Outlets at Lipa, a 9.3 hectare outlet mall inside the Lima Technology Center. It is a project made possible by the Lima Land, Inc., a company under the Aboitizes, which is understandable considering their love for football. Eduardo “Dudes” Aboitiz, the GM of The Outlets at Lipa, is a football fan himself.

The total playing field measures 106 meters by 92 meters in size, making it the biggest turf field in the country by record. The field can entertain more than one match simultaneously. The football field is composed of two pitches with a size of 88 by 51 meters, and a 102 meter by 68 meter regulation field for high-level matches.

The synthetic grass is supplied by Limonta, a FIFA-preferred Italian firm that also provided the grass surface in Rizal Memorial and Turf BGC. The grass stands 40mm in height with shockdrain underneath them, which provides additional shock absorption and drainage of water off the field.

Audris Romualdez, a representative of the project’s contractor E-sports, says she is confident that the field would pass the FIFA Quality Pro standard when tested. This means that they’re confident that the pitch can provide playing performance at the highest quality that can lead to a professional-level football experience.

The bleachers, on the other hand, can accommodate a total of 1500 (with provisions to increase it to 2000) individuals.

Beneath the bleachers are 6 locker rooms that house more than 400 lockers and 38 shower rooms. The abundance of locker rooms is for the idea of having more than one match a day in the field.

Behind the grandstand, there will be space allocated for bars and restaurants that will have an overlooking view of the field. Football fans can enjoy the match while enjoying good food and drinks.

The field is scheduled to be open by late May this year. Football fans can enjoy the massive field this coming June 23 as Aboitiz will be holding a big tournament there. By then, all facilities are expected to be completed. For now, enjoy these pictures!
