1. Can you please introduce yourself to our followers?
Hello Lipeños, I’m Joey Anne Garcia Chavez or just call me “JOEY”, 22 years old. I’m proudly representing Barangay Samgauita for Miss Lipa Tourism 2024. I’m currently studying Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology. I’m an alumni of University of Batangas-Lipa Campus SHS, and won the title for Miss Intramurals 2019-First Runner Up. My vision is to promote health and wellness tourism, and radiance in our beautiful City of Lipa.
2. Can you describe your usual day?
My usual day is that every morning I do yoga for 15-20 minutes, then eat my breakfast and take a shower. Study before I eat lunch. I take my siesta every afternoon. At night, I exercise, take a shower, and then continue to review and read my books.
3. Can you describe the modern Lipeña?
A modern Lipeña is empowered and has the courage to influence and empower her fellow Lipeñas by sharing her wisdom and her radiance through her people. A modern Lipeña can be seen as a progressed woman while preserving its unique identity; her values remain intact, but in a better version, a wiser, stronger, and fiercer Lipeña.
4. What’s your favorite Lipeño food? Why?
My favorite Lipeño food is Sinaing na Tulingan, which is perfect to pair with hot rice and refreshment because it reminds me of our home, my family, and a typical Sunday lunch where everyone is present and enjoying the food.
5. What made you decide to join Miss Lipa Tourism 2024?
There’s a lot of things and contemplation I made before I even made it to the screening, but for me, the most important reason that I’ve joined Miss Lipa Tourism are the people who believe in me, that I am a perfect fit to win the crown because they have seen in me the values and radiance of a Lipeña.
6. Why do you think you should win Miss Lipa Tourism 2024?
I know that all of us Miss Lipa Tourism candidates are worthy of the crown, but there’s only one who will shine among the rest. And my heart and radiance will make me win the crown. Also, my knowledge and understanding of Lipa City’s famous attractions, culture, and wellness activities would help me to effectively showcase the city’s unique charm, eventually contributing to its growth as a premier tourism destination.
7. How do you plan on helping your fellow Lipeños as a candidate for Miss Lipa Tourism 2024?
As a Miss Lipa Tourism 2024 candidate, I know that a lot of my fellow Lipeños look forward to what I will do and what I will contribute to our city. As a candidate, I am a role model to all Lipeños to embody the values that we have from our ancestors up until now for the new generation. I plan to aspire to show them that I myself, from a simple Lipeña, scared being on stage, am now conquering the Plaza Independencia to show my talents, wisdom, and radiance to Lipeños. It all started from a dream turned into reality. And I hope that will make Lipeños help me make a difference in our city.
8. What is your advocacy?
My advocacy will be focused on promoting the radiant tourism section of Lipa City with health and wellness. I chose this as it aligns with me as a pre-med student who places importance on the health of people. Lipa City has been known for its serene environment, natural attractions, and wellness facilities. It’s benefited not just the City of Lipa but also the people who love to travel and do wellness activities.
9. What’s your message to your fellow Lipeños?
My message to my fellow lipeños is to continue to love our city and be proud, because it reflects our roots, our identity.
10. If you could choose 3 things (food, places, people, etc.) to promote Lipa City, what would they be?
If I were to choose 3 things to promote Lipa City, I’d highlight its rich history, delectable culinary delights, specially the famous lomi, and the serene beauty of Mount Malarayat for nature enthusiasts.
