1. Can you please introduce yourself to our followers?
Mabuhay, beautiful people! I’m Patricia Basañes, 21 years old, your official candidate #4 for Miss LIpa Tourism 2024. I am a 3rd Year BS Psychology Student from the BatStateU TNEU Lipa campus. I enjoy dancing. Back when I was active in our dance group, I focused on folk and ballroom dancing. But now, I am into modeling, creating contents, and joining pageants. I was a service crew at McDonald’s Lipa Ayala and one of my duties is to be a party host and a part of me wants to continue to improve that hosting skill. I also love going to cafes and enjoying a “me time” session. At the same time, I also love traveling, especially with my family and friends. Right now, I’m someone who does what she’s happy with and does the things she thinks she’s gonna grow from doing it. Aja!
2. Can you describe your usual day?
I’m still a student so a usual for me is of course I’ll wake up in the morning, preparing to go to school and be productive. After school or during our vacant hours, I’ll eat and hang out with friends then go home. A no-school usual day for me is typically me, just resting my mind, scrolling thru social media, cleaning my room or the house and playing with my dogs as I find it very therapeutic as it allows me to clear my thoughts for a while. Maybe watch movies with the family and read self-care books.
3. Can you describe the modern Lipeña?
I can describe a modern Lipena as someone who is strong and adaptable in a progressive environment while remaining deeply rooted in her cultural heritage. Kasabay ng pagsabay sa mabilis na pag-usad ng mundo sa modernisasyon ay siyang pananatili ng tradisyon sa sarili sa pang-araw araw na buhay. At the same time po, she’s also radical that embraces innovation and adaptability amidst the challenges encountered. The strength she possess as a modern Lipena lies in her ability to honor the past while embracing the opportunities and challenges in the future.
4. What’s your favorite Lipeño food? Why?
As common as this one is, it’s definitely Lomi. It’s something I’m craving from time to time and despite having different stores that serves their unique tasting Lomis ay willing po ako itry. It’s probably because I find lomi as one of my comfort foods. No matter the weather, whether it’s hot or cold, I’ll be more than willing to finish one.
5. What made you decide to join Miss Lipa Tourism 2024?
There are multiple reasons why I decided to join Miss Lipa Tourism 2024. It is rooted from personal reasons to actually wanting to share what Lipa can offer in a bigger platform. I am constantly searching for opportunities that can help me grow and be a better person and as I embody being a candidate, I want to bring Lipa City with that growth.
6. Why do you think you should win Miss Lipa Tourism 2024?
I believe that I should win Miss Lipa Tourism 2024 because I possess a genuine passion to promote our city’s culture, heritage, and tourism. I am more than ready and open to learn and grow from everything I’ll face during my reign as I advocate for something I think that is very important in our community. Winning this title would not only be a personal achievement but also an opportunity to continue serving and uplifting the people and places that make Lipa truly exceptional.
7. How do you plan on helping your fellow Lipeños as a candidate for Miss Lipa Tourism 2024?
As we progress in a city that is full of businesses, I plan to actively engage with local communities to understand their needs and concerns, ensuring that their voices are heard and their issues addressed. Through collaboration with local organizations and authorities, I will lead initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable tourism practices, preserving our natural resources, and supporting local businesses. As a young adult that uses social media and promotes it responsibly, I plan on implementing this with the help of social media platforms as many people will see it and definitely be inspired to help each other as well.
8. What is your advocacy?
I am a Psychology Student so I am advocating something that is close to my heart, to foster self-care and mental wellness. I believe that fostering self-care practices in our community help individuals maintain physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Communities that prioritize mental wellness and self-care are stronger and more resilient. When individuals support each other in their journey towards better mental health, it fosters a sense of belonging and connectedness. By advocating for self-care, we encourage people to prioritize their health and happiness.
9. What’s your message to your fellow Lipeños?
Hello my fellow Lipenos! As a proud member of our vibrant community, my message to my fellow Lipeños is one of unity, resilience, and self-care. In the midst of life’s challenges, let us remember to prioritize our mental wellness and self-care. Each of us deserves moments of peace and recharging, and by nurturing our own well-being, we become stronger individuals and a stronger community. Together, let’s support each other in our journey towards better mental health and create a culture of empathy, understanding, and self-love.
10. If you could choose 3 things (food, places, people, etc.) to promote Lipa City, what would they be?
I chose these 3 things to promote Lipa City: our coffee with the relaxing ambiance of different cafes, churches with its fascinating architectural design and history, and breathtaking nature views that will allow us to recharge and relax.
11. Anything else you want to tell us?
Come watch and support us this June 7, 2024, as we fire up for our preliminary competition. I am inviting you as well to our coronation night which will be on June 15, 2024 that will be held at Lipa City Plaza Independencia. See you there, Lipenos!
