Lipa City – A total of 31 models, eight make-up artists and seven designers volunteered for a fashion show to conclude the Schwarzkopf’s Shaping Futures Philippine leg last May 22 at the Events Center of SM City Lipa.  Shaping Futures is a CSR arm of world renowned beauty brand – Schwarzkopf where voluntary teams from Schwarzkopf’s partner salons have been bringing their hairdressing knowledge and expertise to disadvantaged youngsters in twenty-five countries.

Ms. Leny Ruga (left most) of SOS Children’s Village awards the certificate of appreciation to Malick James Hillado (center) and Santa Emmanuelle (right most).  Malick has been the fashion show’s volunteer director and organizer for three years while Santa is a Batangas-based designer who lends her creations for the Shaping Futures Fashion Show.

With the assistance of SOS Children’s Villages around the country, 18 youngsters were trained in the field of hairdressing for six weeks in the SOS Training Center at Lipa City.  Schwarzkopf also provided the trainees with basic hairdressing equipment like straightening and curling irons, hair blowers and other salon kits which the trainees can use once they are already in the field of professional hairdressing.

Since last year, Shaping Futures have already produced 19 hairdressers, where five of them are employed with David’s Salon while the others started enterprising with a small salon or a home service business.
