If you’ve been a long time follower of this blog, you know that most of our features are in and around the heart of the city. We don’t really get to try restaurants outside of this area and we just discovered a restaurant in Brgy. Plaridel that we’d love to discover over and over again.

I’m talking about Callejon Sizzling Bistro.

About Callejon Sizzling Bistro

It’s a restaurant that just opened last October 27, 2018. They’re only a couple of weeks old when we visited but you would think that they’ve been doing it for a decade once you’ve tasted their food and enjoyed their service.

This is because they have been doing it for a decade.

Callejon Sizzling Bistro is owned by Elena Magsino – Betenbough who also owns the 10 year old Bells and Bubbles Catering Services. This experience is very evident in their service. Their staff is very pleasant and meticulous which complement the whole dining experience.

The ambience is pleasantly surprising. It embodies what the owner is looking for in a restaurant – a place where they can eat, relax and lounge.

They converted an old house into a homey restaurant and staffed it with competent personnel and filled their menu with food that they’ve perfected through the years of providing catering services. It sure sounds like the perfect recipe for a good restaurant.

The Appetizers

Share a plate of Nachos with the whole gang.

This popular pulutan fare is best enjoyed with a serving of their Chili Cheese Fries.

It’s one of the best chili cheese fries I’ve tried and I’ve tried a lot.

Try the Buffalo Wings.

You know me. I love Buffalo Wings. This didn’t disappoint.

The Sizzling Platters

They specialize on sizzling platters and let’s start off with one of my personal favorites here, the Sizzling Crispy Caldereta.

You get crispy meat smothered in rich caldereta sauce and served on a sizzling plate. How can you not make it a favorite?

They also have the Sizzling Sisig.

Their sisig can compete with the best sisig you’ve tasted. I love how it still tastes amazing even when cold.

We also tried the Sizzling Mexican Pusit.

The tender squid is as colorful as it is flavorful.

The Main Courses

You can also get the Grilled Pusit.

It’s a unique take on the grilled pusit and it works.

Of course, there’s the Crispy Pata.

It’s good Crispy Pata. It’s meaty and crispy.

I love the Crispy Kare-Kare

This is so good. I initially took out a big piece to dip it in the alamang for video purposes but couldn’t resist popping it straight into my mouth afterwards.

Try their Sinigang na Hipon.

This is perfect. It’s how I want my sinigang na hipon to be – plump shrimp and crisp vegetables bathing in a sour and flavorful broth.

They also have Beef and Baby Corn Stir Fry.

Meat lover in me approves!

I was eyeing the Lemongrass Chicken Barbecue the whole time.

It has a hint of sweetness similar to that of chicken tocino.

If you want fish, get the Fish Filet in Lemon Mayo Dip.

I said I was only getting one but I grabbed a couple more after I took a bite.

Here for Snacks?

You can try the Sardines and Garlic Pasta.

At first I was like, meh, but I mixed everything together and ended up loving the dish.

There’s also the Monte Cristo.

Don’t make the mistake of ordering it thinking that it’s a light snack. It’s heavy enough to be enjoyed as a big meal.

For dessert, get the Turon with Vanilla Ice Cream on Top.

Do I really need to tell you why you should get it?

Drinks at Callejon

How about some cocktails after a stressful week at work? I love both the Gimlet and Tequila Sunrise.

They also have a tower of Orange and Lemon. I wasn’t able to get a picture, but go get it. At first I was like, there’s no alcohol in here. Then, BAM! There it goes.

They’re good to enjoy while listening to their live band. They have live bands playing every Friday and Saturday.

Here’s their menu!
