Restore Your Precious Kicks with Resto.Kicks

I remember back in college when a PHP 5,000 pair of sneakers is considered very expensive. Nowadays, you grab a good pair of sneakers if you find one at that price range. Now, branded sneakers are priced at PHP 8,000 and above, with rare ones easily costing PHP 15,000 to over PHP 100,000.

This is why it’s quite the shame when you see your expensive pair slowly deteriorating. It’s losing its luster because of all the dirt and mud. You see scuff marks. Worst, you see yellowing of the sole. What do you do? You place it at the back of the shoe rack, give it away, or just throw it away.

On the other hand, there’s a lot of malpractice when it comes to cleaning shoes. You know what I mean. You wash your sneakers as if they’re dirty clothes, complete with brushing and bleaching. You then place it on the roof to dry it under the heat of the sun.

What if we tell you that there’s a better way to clean your shoes? What if we tell you that you can extend the life of your shoes, effectively giving you amazing returns on your investment? What if we tell you that an establishment like Resto.Kicks exists in Lipa, ready to save your day as a sneakerhead?

About Resto.Kicks

Me with Resto.Kicks owner, Kit.

Kit is a self-confessed sneakerhead who earned his chops shopping at ukay-ukay to find cheap sneakers. Wanting to bring them back to life, he studied and mastered how to restore them. This experience allowed him to put up the Resto.Kicks shop.

Trying their Services

Here are the services that they offer:

I went there with a couple of pairs. This Bata Star Wars pair of shoes is relatively new.

I’ve used it a few times and as you know, it’s been raining the past few weeks. So yeah, it’s dirty.

I could have thrown it into the hamper to be cleaned with our tubal. But I gave Resto.Kicks a chance to see if they’ll do a better job.

Kit deep cleaned the shoes using the SHOELUTION mixture that he has in the shop.

He cleaned every inch of the shoes, even the dirt that’s stuck in the tiny holes. He also air-dried it as opposed to drying it in the dryer (NOT RECOMMENDED) or under the heat of the sun (ALSO NOT RECOMMENDED). Here’s the result.

As you can see, it’s just like when I first bought it! Now I don’t have to worry about wearing my good sneakers in this rainy season because I can rely on Resto.Kicks to clean it.

I did have a bigger challenge for him. This Adidas Superstar is a personal favorite of mine. As you can see, it’s been used and abused.

It’s dirty, muddy and yellowing. I’ve had it for about a year and have resigned to the fact that it’s just going to last me a few months before I have to dispatch of it. That is, before Resto.Kicks came into the picture.

He also deep cleaned it to take care of the dirt and mud. He used an unyellow formula to get rid of the yellowing. Well, I’ll just let the picture speak for itself.

Man, it’s so white and clean. I’m not exaggerating when I tell you that it looks brand new. Considering that I’m about to dispatch of it in a couple of months or so because of the embarrassing yellowing that it has, it’s such a joy that Resto.Kicks was able to bring it back to life.

Tips to Take Care of Your Shoes

Kit has these tips for you:

  • For regular cleaning, use a solution like SHOELUTION to clean your sneakers at home. You can buy it at Resto.Kicks.
  • Remove the laces to clean them separately. You can also use SHOELUTION or you can wash them like clothes.
  • Use a shoe brush to get rid of dirt and mud.
  • Use a q-tip to clean those hard to reach areas.
  • Clean the insides of the sneakers as well.
  • Air dry in a well-ventilated area instead of in the dryer or in the sun.

Better yet, just bring your shoes to Resto.Kicks!
