I’m usually not one to hold a big birthday party. I’m not a fan of all the planning and the hassles of putting one together. This is why my past birthdays were celebrated with a simple lunch or dinner with my family.

But ever since we featured Isobel Restaurant and Bar, I’ve always imagined holding a party there. The place is nice and cozy. The food is great and affordable. The staff is professional. I’ve been so blessed this year and met new friends along the way, so I decided to have a little get-together. I also wanted to see if Isobel is as good at parties as it is with usual lunches and dinners, so I decided to hold my birthday salubong there, and I’m here to tell you about it.

Party Details

It’s a small gathering of 20+ of my closest friends. They’re different sets of friends so I wanted a cozy place so they can get to know one another better.

It’s also a celebration of our successful Hello Batangas app launch. We’re all in a festive mood and we’re ready to devour food and enjoy some drinks while we’re at it.

Needless to say, Isobel Restaurant and Bar is the perfect venue for it.

Isobel Restaurant as a Party Venue

If you’re looking for a party venue, you have to find a place that has the following at the very least:

  • Good and clean ambiance
  • Perfect capacity
  • Parking

I’ve always loved the ambiance of Isobel. There are IG-worthy spots like this chair:

The lighting is soft and nice. It’s also not too loud. One of my purposes for having this birthday party is to put different sets of friends together so the place has to be conducive to conversations.

Parking is also not a problem. There’s a parking lot. It’s away from the main highway so street parking is available.

The Food at Isobel

If you’ve read our initial feature on Isobel Restaurant and Bar (click here if you haven’t), you know that we absolutely love their food. I took this chance to once again taste my favorites and try their other offerings.

I always rave about their Yang Chow Rice.

You should order this. We always order this even if we’re eating dishes with heavy sauces like Kare Kare. It’s that good. It’s supposedly good for 3 to 5 persons but you can easily stretch it for 7 persons.

We also ordered their Shanghai Rice.

This is also pretty good! It’s not as good as the Yang Chow Rice but only because the Yang Chow Rice is really way up there when it comes to goodness and value for money.

Just to give you an idea on how huge their rice servings are, there are 24 of us in the party and we ordered two Yang Chow Rice and one Shanghai Rice. We almost didn’t finish the rice because we were so full. We only finished them because they’re so good that we had to keep eating even if we’re already full.

It’s my birthday so I also ordered Pancit Ala Isobel for long life.

Lord, please give me a long life for my family, friends, businesses, and for this pancit!

Since it’s a party, I took advantage of their affordable Family Treats sets. I got the Set B (PHP 1250 for 5 people) which has the Crispy Pata.

A few people in our party grabbed on the bones and gnawed on them. I can’t blame them. I’m just disappointed that I didn’t think of doing it first.

Another favorite of mine is their Kare Kare.

You get huge chunks of ox tail and tripe plus generous amounts of vegetables simmered in a sauce that’s good enough to sip. Imagine that; sipping on kare kare sauce. It’s that good. Here’s a file photo for a closer look.

Don’t worry sinigang fans. They have an insanely good Sinigang na Baboy.

I also ordered the Set C (PHP 1300 for 5 people). The centerpiece is the Sari Saring Inihaw sa Bilao.

I love how they’re perfectly grilled! They have the perfect charring and remained juicy!

I’m a huge Grilled Squid fan so I ordered another one separately.

Not rubbery at all!

If you really want to cheat on your diet but you don’t want to feel too guilty, get the Pinakbet with Lechon Kawali.

So good that you can enjoy it without rice like what some of my friends on a low carb diet did.

It also has the Sinigang na Hipon! Unfortunately we weren’t able to take a picture. I wasn’t able to count but this has a generous amount of plump shrimp.

Family Treat sets also come with steamed rice and drinks.

They also serve good wings!

Hard to find a favorite among the Buffalo Wings, Hickory BBQ Wings, Chili Garlic Wings and Garlic Parmesan Wings so just try all of them.

The Chicken and Potatoes dish is also a hit.

It’s crunchy on the outside and juicy on the inside – just like the potatoes that they come with!

Oh and since it’s a party, we ordered drinks…lots of them!

I think we had 10 buckets. I stopped counting at round 3.

Here’s their menu!
