It’s National Kidney Month this June. Being the hub of healthcare experts, the MMMC has events lined up this June for kidney care and kidney care awareness.
Why should we care about kidney care? Chronic kidney disease is among the top 10 causes of deaths in the Philippines. In a report released last year, 20% of Filipinos are diagnosed with chronic kidney disease in the year leading to last year. Among this alarming percentage, 70,000 of them are undergoing dialysis. A huge number is currently on the waiting list for a kidney transplant, with only 400 sufferers lucky enough to undergo a kidney transplant.
Our kidneys play an important role so that waste products will be filtered from your blood. In case of kidney or renal failure, dialysis is needed as a substitute and will perform the normal functions of the kidneys.
As always, prevention is better than cure. This is why you have to check out these events at MMMC.
This June 6, the MMMC is hosting a blood letting activity.

This June 13, make sure to attend the Renal Wellness event.
This event supports the fight against kidney diseases by promoting awareness and encouraging a healthy lifestyle. Attend the event and take advantage of free lectures, kidney disease screening and consultations.
For the whole month of June, the MMMC is offering a 20% discount to check on your CBC, sodium, potassium, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), creatinine and urinalysis. This is for non-senior hemodialysis patients. For senior citizen hemodialysis patients, you get another 5% discount after the senior discount. Make sure to take advantage of this promo for you to know about your kidney’s health.
