Lipa City – From historical plays to classics, tear – jerkers to hardcore comedy, from straight plays to contemporary theater, Lipa Actors Company has definitely proved its worth through the years of its service to Batanguenos.
While it may seem like a paradigm shift every season, LAC still continues to battle uncertainties to provide wide array of choices for the community, giving new flavor each show and producing works that trigger one’s consciousness to societal issues and community matters.
As part of the Tri – season preparation for LAC’s Tenth Year Anniversary in 2020, some of the company’s most notable plays will return on stage for the next three years.
2019 Makatao season will kick off with re – runs of “Ang Mansanas na Daigdig” to be followed by Aladino Musikal, both coming from the 2018 Makatuwiran season.
The Months of March and May is for the annual Summer Arts Batangas, a workshop season for Lipa Actors Company where apprentices will spend their summer with acting workshops to be facilitated by LAC Resident Actors. Aside from the Drama Apprenticeship Program, apprenticeship for Directing, Production and Design will also be launched for 2019.
Summer ends with Bonbon Festival, a contemporary art festival that gathers artists around the province to promote local art and culture, and is now eyeing for collaborations with international art practitioners.
The re – birth of “Milagros: Ang Huling Himala ng Lumang Lipa” will be staged on July until August.
2019 season finale is “My Pig from the Star”, a comedy musical play, also a remake from the previous play “Ang Maikling Buhay ni Santa Butsiki, Ang Unang Baboy sa Langit” written by Rene O. Villanueva.
Other comeback plays to watch out for include: Ang Pag Ibig ni Kumintang, Segunda sa Bisperas ng Kalayaan, Ang Unang Aswang and Ang Sistema ni Propesor Tuko.
Truly, the limelight still shines on Lipa Actors Company even after a decade and will definitely continue with its advocacy in empowering Batangan talents for the next ten years. And with Batanguenos working hand – in – hand supporting the local art scene, other cultural organizations just like LAC will also have its sustainable growth, eventually making Batangas province a center for culture and arts in the south of Metro Manila.
