Good day, Lipeños and Lipeñas! I’m Kayla Arriadne, an amateur artist and a proud iskolar ng bayan, representing Barangay Sabang aspiring to be your next Miss Lipa Tourism.

2. Can you describe your usual day?

I guess you can say that my routine represents every struggling college student. When I’m in UP, I usually wake up two hours before my classes to cram other requirements. Then I go to my class filled with chemistry, physiology and food science, so when I get back home I blackout on my bed. But of course, I still do my easy skincare routine (which is just Cetaphil) then study AGAIN and do org works until 2 in the morning.

However, weekends are different and the best part of any week. I drop everything that had to do with academics and usually spend time with my family, my friends or my organizations, UP Circle of Entrepreneurs and AIESEC! I make sure my weekends are always different I go to different places, meet different people, and eat at different restaurants – I’m a huge foodie!

3. Can you describe the modern Lipeña?

I am born in Pulilan, raised in Tanauan and Lipa City, and currently studying in Quezon City. I have been to different places, but what separates Lipeñas from other girls is being FEARLESS! In Lipa, it’s common to see moms selling everything from baked goods to clothes, or teenage girls leading the entire student body, or a female scientist being recognized internationally for bringing salt lamps to remote communities. Similar to Barako coffee, true Lipeñas are strong, proud and relentless.

4. What’s your favorite Lipeño food?

NOTHING BEATS LOMING BATANGAS! When I’m in QC, I often fantasize about going to Lomi King with my friends and putting a ton of white onions and the chilimansi soy sauce on top of the lomi. In fact, one of my biggest reasons to go back to Lipa during my free days is to eat lomi.

5. What made you decide to join Miss Lipa Tourism 2020?

My mom always wanted me to join a pageant. Also, many of my teachers, friends and even hairdressers wanted me to join a pageant. Back in DLSL, I focus greatly on my studies which is why I never considered being part of it until now that I have developed this newfound confidence in myself. I’ve realized that becoming Miss Lipa Tourism is an opportunity to use my voice to promote Lipa and to represent every Lipeño and Lipeña, which I believe is the perfect place to start this journey.

6. Why do you think you should win Miss Lipa Tourism 2020?

I have never considered myself being in this position until I have been given consistent love and support from others, and it boosted me higher than I could ever imagine. I want to be able to give that feeling to Lipeños – the idea that people can do more than what they see in themselves. What I promise to serve as Miss Lipa Tourism 2020 is authenticity. I want to prove that beauty is present where people feel most free no matter what form and it is possible to achieve that beauty.

7. How do you plan on helping your fellow Lipeños as a candidate for Miss Lipa Tourism 2020?

Prof. Guggenheim once quoted in my Hotel, Restaurant and Institutions Management class, “Service is the mission and the most important product of the hospitality industry.” Being a candidate Miss Lipa Tourism is more than just a pretty face, it requires great hospitality and service towards Lipeños. I plan to promote further the beauty of Lipa, starting by listening to the Lipeños and bringing up these issues on the pageant. At this point, it is a sin to be ignorant – it’s time to address each issue head-on to make a better community for Lipa City. It is also important to focus on sustainable tourism where we should prioritize the welfare of the locals first before accommodating other people.

8. What is your advocacy?

Since Miss Lipa Tourism 2020’s theme is En Vogue, I think this is the perfect opportunity to advocate LGBTQIA+ Visibility. Vogue has begun from the Harlem ballroom culture which is filled with queer and transgendered people celebrating gender fluidity and freedom. From then until now the LGBTQIA+ community has experienced unending discrimination and abuse. For so long, many people are still uninformed of their true identity, and this is what I aim to address this MLT 2020. The key is to be informed and to appreciate the individuality of every person.

9. What’s your message to your fellow Lipeños?

It may be a bit off to advocate this pageant at these trying times, but what I do know is that these candidates are all more than willing to represent Lipa City and listen to your concerns to the best of their ability. I know that we are currently in a difficult situation where many lives are at stake and survival is difficult, but remember that any action, no matter how small, as long as it is for the community would impact greatly the lives of those in need.

Please donate, send your prayers and continue to be fearless in doing what is right. Us candidates, LGUs and these brave front liners will actively listen to your concerns, and we will try our best to provide your needs. To Lipa City’s Front liners, thank you. You are Lipa City’s heroes and we will forever be grateful for your service.

10. Why do you deserve to be chosen as the Hello Lipa Brand Ambassadress?

My primary purpose in this pageant is to gain a voice that speaks for Lipeños and Hello Lipa is the best place to do so. I would love to promote Lipa for this is the place I always speak of to my friends. I have been to different places and Lipa has this comfort where people are already welcomed with the cool blast of wind. I want to share that comfort with other people. PLUS! I’m basically a foodie who loves to travel, which is one of the reasons I fell in love with Hello Lipa’s vlogs. I’ve always wanted to join any of those food trips.

11. Anything else you want to tell us?

Thank you Sir Jayzar Recinto and Mrs. Aisha Dansal Recinto for this opportunity. I hope that you’d enjoy working with this batch of candidates. I really am a fan of Hello Lipa’s vlogs and community service as I know that this has promoted greatly Lipa’s tourism. Kudos to both of you for making Lipa a better place.
