Lipa City- Five bakeries and bakeshops were given recognition through a one-day exhibit last October 16 at the Events Center of SM City Lipa in time for the celebration of World Bread Day.

The participating bakeries include La Esperanza Bakery from Batangas City, Abaksa Bakery from municipality of Lemery, Nene’s Bakery from the municipality of Taal, Golden Merengue Bakeshop from the town of Lian and Donappetit Cakes from the town of Santo Tomas.

The celebration kicked off with the ceremonial slicing of the kapeng barako cake led by SM Lipa mall manager Liza F. Dimaculangan and DTI Batangas’ Maris Argente.  At about four in the afternoon, book authors Amy Uy and Jenny Orillos of “Panaderia: Philippine Bread, biscuits and bakery traditions” graced the event through a simple book signing activity.
