I met Audine through a common friend. Her beauty and overall pleasant disposition immediately stood out. Always armed with a smile, you can’t help but feel good around her.

My wife and I are fans of her one-of-a-kind beauty. I’m not kidding when we tell you that we get starstruck whenever we bump into her. Looks like we’re not alone, as she was recently crowned at an international beauty pageant.

Ladies and gentlemen, we introduce to you Miss International Monspace Cosmos 2018 – Audine Nitchelle Jade Villarama!

Full Name: Audine Nitchelle Jade Villarama

Nickname: Auds, Din-din

Barangay: Sabang

Age: 22

Vital stats: 34-26-36

Motto in life: I go by the concept in the poem, “Desiderata” which states – “Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.”

My thoughts on Beauty: “The true essence of beauty is being true to oneself and being able to embrace all the perfect imperfections because true beauty emanates from the soul and inspires from the heart.”

Hi I’m Audine! I’m a graduate of De la Salle Lipa and I took Bachelor of Arts in Communication Major in Advertising.  I am also a brand endorser, a ramp, fashion and commercial model. I did pageants since I was 14 and have won some. Currently, I am learning how to be a blogger and vlogger where my skills in the communication arts are being challenged.

EDITOR’S NOTE: You can follow her on her Facebook page. You can also subscribe to her on YouTube. Check out one of her videos below.

I apply what I learned in advertising in my own business which is an artisan soap making business called Navi soap.ph- Loving Naturale. I handcraft and manufacture the soaps myself and sell them online and offline.

I also ventured into a milkshake/ice cream business which is the Olaf Cream Bars. It’s not an ice cream. It’s a milkshake in a bar.

What made you decide to join Miss International Monspace Cosmos?

My mom was instrumental in that happening because she truly believed in me and my capacity to win. She’s my mentor especially during those days when I was down and weary.

You see, I came from a broken relationship and was lost for a while. She was there to lend support, a shoulder to cry on. She knows my fears and my inability to see beyond the hurt. I lost all self-respect and self-esteem, I gained a lot of weight. But, listening to my mom saying she believed in me inspired and made me realized that I can conquer my fears and doubts about myself if only I allow myself to do that.

It was a wake-up call. So, I started going to the gym and eating healthy. By joining this pageant, I was able to transform myself, pushed myself to the limit to help myself grow, to add more skills, and enhance my ability to be independent and acquire self-confidence.

How was your experience?

The competition was like being in a reality show just like Asia’s Next Top Model because we were given tasks that need to showcase our ability to think on our feet and to be creative with finding solutions to our challenges. Those challenges made me anxious and nervous because there were cameras everywhere that recorded our every move and reaction.

However, I enjoyed them immensely. It’s a once in a lifetime experience. I’ve met a lot of personalities from different nationalities who became my friends during and even after the pageant. I understood their cultures more that really taught me empathy and developed my skill in interpersonal relationship.

Can you tell us about a challenging experience during the pageant and how you overcame it?

I dealt with a lot of challenges all throughout the pageant. In the first few episodes of the reality show, the producer showed a different side of me which was far from the truth that was actually occurring during the shoot. But I understand what they tried to do because it’s a reality show. They told us that in order to spice things up we need to do what they say and direct us to give different reactions.

However, because of those episodes some people, even my fans in the PH, tried to bully me in social media. There were so many nasty comments which hurt me and brought me to tears. But instead of feeling down and depressed, I used that to affect my attitude positively and to motivate myself to do better and be stronger. I believe in always moving forward and not dwelling too much on a problem or a bad experience.

One of the challenges I encountered was the question of my physical abilities and physical appearance. I was the really chubby one and have blemished skin while my fellow competitors were thin and flawless.

My mentor in the show, Miss Lavin, taught me how to be more self-confident and to take care of myself by watching out on my diet and exercise. She believed in me, like my mom and that helped tremendously.

Can you describe your feeling when you were announced as the Miss International Monspace Cosmos?

I can’t really describe how I feel that very moment. It was surreal. I can’t believe I won and I just stood there crying, overwhelmed and grateful at the same time. I never imagined winning such a prestigious pageant. So, it came as a total shock. I thought perhaps I could go as far as the third place but everything happened so fast, like a blur. Looking back, I would have preferred to cherish every moment of the experience.

Given the chance, how can you help your fellow Lipeños as Miss International Monspace Cosmos?

Since I was a child, my advocacy is to be able to help and assist in charity works in order to uplift the plight of the less fortunate, especially women of my age and kids to help them improve themselves just like how I did. I know that most young women are lacking in self-confidence and self-esteem that most are not courageous enough to reach for their dreams.

I believe that empowering them through creative workshops, self-growth coaching and mind-setting seminars is better than just doling out money or donations. As I’ve said during the final’s night of Miss Monspace International Cosmos 2018, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach him how to fish, feeds him a lifetime.”

My mom who is a life coach, a personal growth trainer and a motivational speaker can help the Lipeñas in this aspect. She taught me all the skills and knowledge in these field so I know the two of us together can achieve the dream we both have in empowering women like me. Lipeños can positively grow and reach their potential if only they can change their mindset and belief system.

Can you describe the modern Lipeña?

A modern Lipeña is strong-willed, open-minded and ready to face challenges. Although some need more inspiration in order to pursue their dreams, and so I wish they can be inspired and motivated by my achievements.

What’s your favorite Lipeño food?

Chicken or lechon chami tamis-anghang with chicharon bulaklak! And goto! I love eating goto for breakfast when it’s cold in Lipa. Plus unli rice (joke!)

Describe your normal day in Lipa.

A typical day starts with looking at my phone to check my messages and schedules for the day upon waking up. If my mom has a schedule for me regarding our business, I tend to it at once. I also check if there are photoshoots, guesting or appearances with my mom, who is also my manager. Sometimes, I go out to meet my resellers for deliveries of their stocks and drive around to look for more. If I have no meetups or guesting, or photoshoots, I stay home and make soaps, run errands and tend to my home business or do my chores. I sometimes take care of my nephew too.

Yes, I do my own laundry, drive my own car and cook food for the family when I have time. I do whatever is necessary at home together with my siblings. I am always online as well to keep in touch with my friends, our clients and business partners. I also go to the gym once a week.

What makes Lipeñas perfect for beauty pageants?

Lipeñas are born to conquer the stage. I realized that Lipeñas are keen in joining pageants and are willing to go to the depths of all the challenges in order to win. Lipeñas are competitive in spirit and are of course naturally beautiful.

What’s your message to your fellow Lipeñas aspiring to follow in your footsteps?

It’s a cliché but JUST BE YOURSELF. Believe in yourself. Know you are capable of achieving your dreams. Do not compare yourself with others, because you are your own unique self. Be your own critic and don’t be afraid to learn, to explore, to experience.

Build your confidence. Get a positive mindset. Try to be as fair and honest as you can. Respect yourself fully and especially others as well. Also accept your weaknesses and embrace your strengths, however, always be humble.

Understand that there are people who won’t be supportive of you. Don’t despair. There are others who will accept you for who you are. Find a mentor. If it seems difficult to improve on your personality and change your mindset, get someone who can help you.

Lastly, just enjoy your journey. #lifeinspiringlife
