Hi! I am Frances Isabel R. Macatangay, 17, candidate for Miss Lipa Tourism 2020, from Brgy. Pinagtongulan. I am an athlete and dreams to be a model or an actress someday. I love exploring and discovering new things, talents or skills especially when I’m with my favorite people. I like to believe that I am good at singing and dancing, although my friends like me better when I keep sharing them out-of-the-ordinary stories instead. I’ve got sweet tooth, and I enjoy eating as much as I love working out. Furthermore, I believe that everything we are dreaming of will come in the right time as long as we don’t give up and push ourselves beyond limits.

2. Can you describe your usual day?

The usual day, for me, basically revolves with regular classes and trainings. I would start my day waking up at 3am to prepare for our 4am volleyball training. At six o’clock, after changing jersey shirts to school uniform, I always find my feet dashing to get to my seven o’clock class in time. After it ends at 1:20 in the afternoon, I will take a nap and prepare for another extra workout at the gym. Getting home is more than a relief already to take a breather, but making sure that being fed with academic knowledge is what’s keeping me active and occupied at night. Before fully putting my mind at rest, saying a little prayer and thanking God for keeping me strong and brave caps off my entire day.

3. Can you describe the modern Lipeña?

A woman who is not afraid to try, fail and learn from every breakthrough, who sees beauty and optimism in tough and challenging circumstances, and has a huge faith in God’s grace and perfect timing, for me, are the best words to describe a modern Lipeña.

4. What’s your favorite Lipeño food?

No brainer, LOMI! Being served best here in our city and perfectly suits the weather we have (Lomi weather!!!), couldn’t beat any other Lipeño dishes in my heart. Lomi has been a family favorite for a long time now; best shared after every Sunday Mass. Quality time can never go wrong over a hot bowl of Lomi (with toyo mansi and onions). Also, of course, how can I forget Kapeng Barako! Knowing that the first ever coffee tree in the Philippines was planted here in our Barangay (Pinagtongulan), it gives much an extra pride, more than it’s already rich, strong taste and aroma, to sip every drop of a freshly kettle brewed kapeng barako specially made by my father!

In my 17 years of existence, I’ve been living in curiosity. The desire to explore and learn has always been on top of my mind, and I can only get it done if I’ll step out of my box to fully see what’s inside the box. Searching for more ways to know my purpose, I decided to join Miss Lipa Tourism as it is a great platform and opportunity for me to find my true calling in life.

6. Why do you think you should win Miss Lipa Tourism 2020?

Winning is more than just the name, the award or the brand handed over as a title holder. Earning the crown and carrying it on your head all the more means taking on the duties and responsibilities that comes with it. If given a chance, with will and determination, I can be an epitome that best represents the Lipeño community for I am brave enough to stand and let my voice be heard, extend awareness and promote Lipa City, while having keen eyes to observe and big ears to listen and learn. Above all, I believe that in everything that I do, nothing is impossible with a sincere heart and strong faith in God.

7. How do you plan on helping your fellow Lipeños as a candidate of Miss Lipa Tourism 2020?

Seeing my kabarangays with their everyday life, spending fun time and sharing my humble athletic skills with them, makes me aspire to impart it with every Lipeño who makes up what Lipa City is. Putting it on a bigger picture, understanding my fellow Lipeños through immersing with them can yield and squeeze productivity within me. More than a personal gain, it is with so much fulfillment that I can extend my hands to them and in promoting how abundant Lipa City is. I will be a reminder for them that our city is a gem that should be treasured and taken care of because we are our city. We need to help one another because I believe that a small act when combined together, can make a big difference.

8. What is your advocacy?

With Lipa’s picturesque landscape and strategic location in the heart of Batangas province, the familiarity with the Lipeños’ way of life is something that I’m excited to walk through. As an athlete, I can start it by inspiring, not only my fellow young Lipeñas but also across all gender and ages, to open their eyes with the importance of a stable physical well-being. Health is something that we all treasure and maintaining the state of physical well-being is in challenging in times like this, as we face this battle with COVID-19, is our utmost priority. Beyond the places, the environment, the food, which is already a fully bloomed gift to Lipa, I believe that the most important jewel that Lipa City has, IS ITS PEOPLE. Keeping them healthy by taking good care of their physical welfare is something that is of great importance, which I really want to share with them.

9. What’s your message to your fellow Lipeños?

Always be who you are and never be afraid of failure, for it will only limit your capabilities. Every day is a new start and as long as you live, there will always be hope, given through unlimited chances. These chances, if used properly can give way to much more even chances that can be shared to others. Join me as I walk to this path and explore the yet-to-be-seen beauty of our city. You have it see the sparkle through your eyes first before seeing it from others. Let us be proud that we are Lipeños.

10. Why do you deserve to be chosen as the Hello Lipa Brand Ambassadress?

Living in a city like Lipa is something to be proud of. Being a citizen and having the values of a Lipeña is something I want others to feel and to learn. I am currently studying in Manila, and I get to meet more people and new faces every day. I even play volleyball, one of the top sports that the whole nation is crazy about. I have discipline and passion. With that, I can confidently say that I have the advantage to promote Hello Lipa not only within but also outside the city.

11. Anything else you want to tell us?

Thank you Sir Jayzar and Ma’am Aisha Recinto for the never-ending support in making this pageant possible. I hope to meet and work with you soon po! Keep inspiring us and sharing the beautiful city that we have. Stay safe, God Bless and Mabuhay tayong lahat for the love of our city! LIPAD LIPA!
